Nagamatsu Akinori, Japan
BSc (Hons) in Mobile Computing
Nagamatsu, our Japanese student from Fukushima has been in Malaysia for the past two and a half years. He heard about APIIT from his counsellors while he was in school and when he decided to take IT, this was the logical choice. He successfully completed his Diploma in computing with us and is currently pursuing his BSc (Hons) degree in computing specialising in Mobile Computing.

He considers the lecturers at APIIT to be instrumental in providing him with a good quality education. He says that he has adapted well to life here in Malaysia and has become a big fan of ‘teh tarik’ and chicken rice.

He also said that the locals are friendly and when he completes his Bachelors degree, he plans to enter the Japanese employment market with the skills that he has gained from his experience and education here at APIIT.

Owais Kazi, Dubai U.A.E
American Degree Program, 1 year
After completing 3 years of study in Dubai, I transferred to SIT International College in Malaysia, and I’m happy I made that choice. This place has all the necessary requirements for a memorable college life. I was really impressed by the quality of education and teaching techniques offered. The best part is people here are very friendly and down to earth. Apart from studies, travelling around Malaysia and its many beautiful islands is truly inspiring. It is very affordable too. One great thing about Malaysia is how so many different cultures are combined here in a perfect blend. The time I’ve spent in Malaysia would be stored as golden memories within me.

Singapore and Malaysia are similar in terms of food and climate. Therefore, adjusting to life here was not a problem. HICT’s commitment to quality education is demonstrated in its processes and procedures that monitor the quality of its courses. My experiences here will definitely be a memorable phase of my life, especially the new friendships I have made with students from many countries.

Emmeline Hannah Lyon, United Kingdom
BA in Mass Communication
Studying at Limkokwing is an enriching experience. It is not just about acquiring a diploma or a degree. It is also about learning away from classroom and textbooks - learning about Malaysia’s multiracial society, international cultures, event management, film and TV production and involvement in charity activities. Equally rewarding is the industry exposure. Limkokwing students work in cooperation with major companies, undertaking special projects and sometimes even compete with the professionals, gearing us for real-life situations when we graduate.

I have always wanted to travel; see the world and experience different cultures, traditions and beliefs. After enrolling at Limkokwing University, I found no reason to travel further. I think that this university is one of the most culturally diverse universities in the world. Even though I am from another country, I feel right at home at Limkokwing Malaysia.

Brian P Chirisah, Malawi
Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Communications), First Year

What drives me to succeed at my studies: Goals and aspirations that I have set for myself, coupled with the expectations of parents and all those around me.
3 things I’ll never leave home without: Wallet, mobile phone, keys.
The best thing about being a university student: Getting an education that is practical and applicable.
Everyone should know that: A good university life is not all about fun, and neither is it all about books. It is about appreciating and understanding the balance between the two.
Choosing my course: Initially I wanted to study communications engineering, but Electrical and Electronic engineering with a major in communications provided better prospects; it was better in every way! My favourite parts/ subjects: Research during assignments gives me an edge in my education.
College/ university life: Managing time and fi nances can be tricky. Malaysia is an affordable place but being the type that has an eye for gadgets, I have been entangled in one too many fi nancial situations because of this. The responsibility I have developed has really helped me in the past half a year. Time management is eased because Legenda is a place where life goes on at a steady pace, far from the hustle and bustle of city life.
An important skill: I have learnt to stand up for myself. This is because I have interacted with so many students from different backgrounds and countries and it has boosted my confidence.
Extracurricular activities: I hold the position of Events Co-ordinator of the International Students Association. Recently, we successfully organised the inaugural International Cultural Week. It was a fun and good experience although much time and effort had to be put in.
Looking ahead: My field is broad and growing. After my studies, I want to take my time to look for a job that will suit a lifestyle consistent with furthering my studies, most likely research. My advice: Do not give up the chance to go to university; the value of what you get out of it is priceless!

Toh Beng Hooi
Multimedia Engineering

Multimedia University has been one of the most unique places to live and learn. One of the most impressive things about the university has to be its learning facilities. The computer laboratories are perhaps the best I've ever seen and so are its engineering laboratories. Also, lecture theatres are fully equipped with the latest multimedia teaching aids like DVD players and multimedia projectors. Apart from that, even our examination results, tuition fees, time table can be accessed online! Overall, life goes fully online in Multimedia University.

I have been studying in this university for a mere 2 years, and yet I can safely see it as a reservoir of bubbling promises, set to provide the country with a generation of leaders and people who are not only consumers of technology but contributors to the technological civilisation of the future. Powered by its capable management team and its mature, knowledge-starved students, the university is geared up to propel Malaysia into the frontiers of science and technology, in line with the Vision 2020. Sparked with the juices of creativity and innovation, the people of MMU are driven to revolutionise the knowledge age, driven by information technology based not on muscle but on mind, to answer to society, the students here are trained to salvage the anguished cries of humanity in order to meet the very ideals of our society, and to launch the country from the threshold of the next millennium, to the very forefront of technology.
