Facilities & Focus

World Class Facilities

TOC offers one of the best automotive learning environment benchmarked against world standards.

Central to this modern facility are two large workshops where theory and practical lessons are integrated. The workshops are clean, fully air-conditioned, equipped with exhaust extraction systems and well-maintained based on 5 S housekeeping practices. A fleet of modern "live" vehicles of various marques are available for students to work on.

The Resource Centre is furnished with reference books, manuals, periodicals and internet access for students who wish to obtain information, carry out discussions or complete their assignments in a conducive environment.

The adjacent 4-story building houses combination rooms, lecture rooms, a large Lecture Hall and the following:
• Autotronics Laboratory offering the perfect environment for the development of diagnostic skills and mastery of electrics and electronics where students are guided in a simulated environment before moving on to "live" vehicles.
• Dedicated Component Training Areas are designed to facilitate teaching on specific areas on automotive such as: chassis, drive train, engines and engine management.
• Multimedia Learning Centre which can deliver over 5,000 screens of interactive audio visual computer based learning materials.

Our Training Focus
Our graduates are employment ready and can immediately adapt themselves to their working environment, thanks to our concept of closely monitored and extensive industry attachments as well as familiarization with the latest automotive models in the market. We also listen carefully to feedback from our industry partners, among which is the need for trained Technicians conversant with automotive electrical and electronics.

Vehicles in 1958 have "zero electronics" within them, whereas vehicles manufactured in 2007 have about 25% of its components electronically controlled. It is expected that by the year 2012, electronics will control 60% of the modern vehicle’s components.

In response to such feedback and world market trends, TOC will continue to channel greater efforts to ensure that our graduates are competent in electrical and electronics systems of the modern automobiles.

All our students start with working on Basic Electric Master Boards.

The students then progressed into basic electronics training and advanced electric and electronic training in the Autotronics Lab, which features the DEGEM AT-2000 system.

Autotronics Lab with Desktop Stations & Autotronic Softwares
Integrated circuit boards including network (CAN, Optic Bus)

Our students are then exposed to Electrical and Electronic Simulators for vehicle systems such as engine operations & management, body electrical, sensors & controls, air-condition, etc..

Our students will also work on Multi-Purpose Simulations Boards that will allow them to practice and experiment with electrical wiring circuitries using realistic original components and parts. Such training will also allow greater appreciation for diagnosing and fault findings.

Our students will then work on Specific Simulations Boards to allow them more precise practical training and experimentations on the various electrical and electronic systems, such as electrical wiring systems and Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) systems.

Students will also be working on "live" engines and vehicles to familiarised themselves with the workings of Electronic Control Units, besides using diagnostic tools and equipment to measure, identify and remedy the vehicle's or engine's conditions.

Engine Analyzer First Generation MOT
Engine Analyzer Second Generation with Laptop FSA
Engine Analyzer Lastest Generation KTS
Exhaust Gas Analyzer 4-Gas D&O

Our comprehensive training programme is very hand-on and students will work on both continental and Asian vehicles, including sessions on metal and bench works.
